Using the Web For Budget Help

Evanston, Ill is using the web to engage and collaborate with the public about budget decisions. About 1,000 people participated in online voting to express their opinions about various budget proposals.

Evanston’s City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz utilized a web site created in Cologne Germany as a template for obtaining citizen participation and input on the Web. The city spent $12,000 to hire an independent consultant to provide a framework and to lead budget workshops.
